Garden Club Activities
The Richmond Heights Garden Club, has gardening activities year-round that include: workshops; presentations by club members, Master Gardeners from The Missouri Botanical Garden, horticultural professors from area colleges and universities, and experts from garden centers. The club has two to three fund raisers per year, summer eating meetings and much, much more!
Activities Include:

Gardening From The Heart
Gardening From The Heart is a Horticulture Therapy program for Citizens with Special Needs – A volunteer program sponsored by The Gardeners of America Men's Garden Clubs of America. These projects are partnerships with local institutions serving youth or adults and providing support and encouragement in the field of horticulture therapy.

The Richmond Heights Garden Club works with residents at Richmond Terrace Senior Living facility in a year-long vegetable garden project. During the off season months, volunteers from the RHGC, work with residents cooking and doing garden/nature crafts.
Spring Plant Sale
The annual spring plant sale has evolved from a small donations only event to a much larger sale offering nursery raised plant stock, home made honey, raffle and auction items as well as the members perennial divisions. The fundraiser supports the maintenance of the club, including the informational speakers, and donations to gardening efforts. Since 2003, we have donated over $4,000 to local, state, national and international organizations. This is also our main way of reaching out to the public to share information about the club membership.
Garden Tour
1n 2010 the club hosted our first garden tour. 15 gardens, including schools and restaurants in the Richmond Heights and Maplewood areas were featured. We are planning another in 2012!
Summer Eating Meetings in Members Gardens
Summer Eating Meetings, otherwise known as 'pot luck' dinners are held in May, June and July. Still scheduled on the second Tuesday of the month at members own homes, this is an opportunity for members and guests to enjoy the beauty of others' gardens and the norishment of our own food. Many times it includes home 'grown' as well as home 'made' bounty! These gatherings are informal and generally do not include educational presentations. Well maybe the sharing of a recipe or two!
Fall Plant Auction
Fall Auction Event either held in September or October invites members and guests to bring in garden related materials and plants that need a new home. From books to flower pots to that house plant that you have had for way too long! And then we 'auction' them off at really great prices! The more the merrier; this is also a fundraiser for the organization.
Holiday Banquet and Awards Presentation
Our Holiday Banquet is a party celebrating the end of the year by awards, food and the announcement of the officers for the following year. The awards banquet has a long standing history honoring hard work and accomplishments.
Our Silver Bowl recognizes the best garden of the year while we also award for the best service to the club by a member.
Maybe you will be luckly enough to receive the 'First Ripe Tomato Award'!

Maplewood Beautification
Garden club members along with area residents created a beautiful oasis at the corner of Bellevue and Manchester Road. Click here to see!
